A UK agri-biotech company building a living microbial biofertiliser to restore degraded farmland — founded by two people who have spent years working directly with farmers on the ground.
Our Story
Reclaimer didn't start with a product. It started with conversations — more than 120 of them, with UK farmers who were spending more on inputs every year and seeing less in return. Rising fertiliser costs. Soil that needed more and more to produce the same yield. A feeling that the tools available weren't built with long-term land health in mind.
The founders brought different things to those conversations: Adwaith had spent years working with farming communities in India, helping growers recover from the Kerala floods through RUDRA, an NGO he co-founded to bring biological farming solutions directly to smallholders. Abhijith had spent the same years in the laboratory — researching microbial consortia, plant-pathogen interactions, and the science of soil biology at the University of Mysore.
Together they built what those conversations asked for: a living product that works with the soil's own biology rather than bypassing it. Made from upcycled agricultural waste. Dilution-controlled so a single product serves a full growing season. And designed from the start to be something farmers can actually afford to use.
A commercial operator and a research scientist who have worked together for years — and whose backgrounds between them span agri-tech, biotechnology, finance, and field-level farming practice.
Co-founder & Managing Director
Leads commercial, operational, and regulatory strategy for Reclaimer from the UK. Holds an MSc in Finance & Investment Banking with Distinction from the University of Hertfordshire, and a BSc in Computer Science — a combination that puts quantitative rigour behind every business decision. Before founding Reclaimer, he worked as an analyst at Ernst & Young, building large-scale financial models and data pipelines for major clients across ERP platforms, Power BI, and Tableau.
The path to Reclaimer began with RUDRA, a non-profit Adwaith co-founded in 2018 to help farming communities in Wayanad, Kerala rebuild after devastating floods — providing bio-solutions directly to farmers and running workshops on sustainable practice. That ground-level experience shaped both the product philosophy and the commercial instinct he brings to Reclaimer today. He also co-founded Dr. Mushroom Agro Tech alongside Abhijith.
His research on the electro-magneto dynamics of cells was presented at the COHERENCE 2024 conference in Rome. He has also been a guest speaker at the University of Hertfordshire Business School Student Research Conference.
Co-founder & Chief Scientific Officer
The originator of Reclaimer's core biological process and the scientific architect of the product. A PhD researcher at the Nanobiotechnology Laboratory, University of Mysore, and holder of an MSc in Biotechnology (first class), his work spans microbial consortia, plant-pathogen interactions, biogenic nanoparticles, and bioinformatics. He has developed and submitted novel fungal sequences to GenBank, and built custom bioinformatics algorithms for gene sequence analysis.
Abhijith has published six peer-reviewed papers in journals including Environmental Research and the Journal of Hazardous Materials, and co-authored the 2024 CABI International book chapter “Climate Neutral Agriculture” — positioning Reclaimer's science within the broader context of net-zero food production. He is a recipient of multiple government research grants, including the Government of India DST–RAFTAAR Agri Business Grant and the Kerala Startup Mission Idea Grant.
Before Reclaimer, he led a Kerala state government-funded biocontrol project designing pilot-scale mass cultivation of biocontrol agents, and co-founded Dr. Mushroom Agro Tech, where he continues to lead innovation.
From listening to farmers to building a pre-commercial pipeline, here's how we got here.
We surveyed more than 120 UK farmers with open-ended questions and heard the same issues repeatedly: rising input costs, deepening chemical dependency, and a lack of affordable, sustainable alternatives. This shaped a product designed to address all of those pain points, not just one.
Years of R&D produced a stable, multi-organism consortium and the proprietary growth medium that keeps it working together — developed in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire.
92 farms covering more than 25,000 hectares signed up to trial the product — built pre-launch, pre-approval, and with no marketing spend. An NDA with a partner in Kenya is now bringing a region-specific version to East Africa.
We're completing the regulatory and validation work required before commercial launch, working through the UK's evolving fertiliser and biostimulant framework toward a clear, compliant route to market.
